Female Entrepreneur Roadmap: Creating a Tech-enabled Business as a Non-tech...

Female Entrepreneur Roadmap Creating a Tech-enabled Business as a Non-tech....jpg

Having a background in tech (coding, computer science, data analytics) should not determine whether or not a female founder can create a tech or tech-enabled company. It can often be an intimidating process transitioning from idea-stage to creating a viable prototype to reach your first customers.

This roadmap will empower female entrepreneurs to identify DC resources to create a tech product and navigate the entrepreneurship landscape as a non-technical founder.

The goal of this roundtable is to learn major areas of concern for women that want to create a tech business but are unsure of where to start, and to provide them with insights into navigating challenges utilizing the roadmap.

State of Innovation: From the Bottom to Now We're Here

State of Innovation From the Bottom to Now We're Here.jpg

The State of Innovation (SOI) is an ongoing event series focused on the people, businesses, trends, and topics that are shaping the city's tech community and economy. Throughout the year, we host several niche SOI meetups that are designed to spotlight an individual category, company, or theme.

At our May State of Innovation meetup, we'll dive into growing and scaling startups. Every entrepreneur is focused on growth, on getting their startup from 0 to 100. And because so much time, energy and resources go into that pursuit of getting off the ground, it can be difficult to sometimes look beyond that intial success to sustaining growth. How do you leverage, manage, and navigate that initial burst of growth to get to 65 and then to 70 and then to 90 and so on and so on?

Calling all Creatives! End of Summer Social

CALLING ALL CREATIVES.jpg

Greetings Creatives!

Labor day has come and gone as summer grows more fleeting. To celebrate our rapidly growing group and in partnership with our friends at Distinctly Creative (https://www.meetup.com/distinctly_creative/) and Graphic Design DC (https://www.meetup.com/Washington-GraphicDesign-Meetup/), we are hosting an all hands on deck social to meet as many of our collective creative community as possible while the weather’s still southernish.

Over the past few months, since Kasey and I took over, our group has more than doubled in size (becoming one of fastest growing creative groups on Meetup), we’ve hosted a few fun events and got to meet a lot of you fine folks. But as we celebrate our growth, we are reminded that this group IS and ALWAYS will be about fellowship and community and not numbers. We highly value engagement and participation from our members to encourage a creative community that’s diverse, inclusive, social and exists beyond the confines of the digital world.

So we humbly request that ALL ACTIVE AND NEW MEMBERS that are available Thursday, September 28th, join us for our last social event of the summer to celebrate, network and socialize.

We’ve reserved the entire private outdoor patio at Spaces NoMa for our event so feel free bring friends, drinks, and yourselves as we say farewell to summer in style (rain or shine). We will provide drinks and food/snacks, further details and directions below:

• Thursday, September 28th

• 6:30pm - 10pm

• Spaces NoMa (Uline Arena) 1140 3rd St NE, 2nd Floor, Washington, DC 20002

Please RSVP on Meetup and if your plans change and you can’t join us, no worries, but please update your RSVP so we can factor that into planning. For any questions or additional information, please message us anytime.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
